Design Vitality awards theme with $1,000 – money well spent?

Money well spent? This is the result of the Design Vitality contest, with the winner raking in a grand, and the runner up getting a Wii or an iPhone. Personally, I think the theme finishing third (getting two year’s of hosting) is the one with the most potential, although the winning theme should be easy enough to customize. None, however, is particularly great, and give the fact that $1,000 could get you a professionally designed theme to release, if linkbuilding was the purpose of the competition, I doubt we’ll see it returning in 2008. Then again, they did get all these links from BloggerTalks, so maybe the joke’s on me?
